Oh what fun!

I have been playing around with my blogger layout and I just think they all suck. One day I will find a good one.... Until then look out for random changes here and there.

Breathe in..... Breathe out....

I have to say that I am somewhat pleased with how my goals for this year are going. The family time has been really good this week. We have started eating dinner a little earlier and then making our way to the living room for some quality time. Now, I know most of you will say that tv time is not quality time but I beg to differ. For one, it is f-ing cold outside and if I leave the house once a week that is more than enough for me. Two, we have not been sitting on the couch..... nope, we have been spending time on the floor.... all of us. A lot of this time has included talking, wrestling, and lots of laughing (thank you America's Funniest Home Videos). We pick something to watch that does not require our full effort to watch and we just play. Its awesome! Lucas especially loves this and it has become his favorite time of the day. Besides, once this winter weather breaks we will be out and about more than enough. (I really cant wait for Spring)
On the health front I have been making effort on exercise. I am trying to remain consistent and not overdo things. I am also trying to make healthier meal choices but not focusing on weight loss until my exercise regimen becomes routine. Doing to much it so overwhelming.... and do you know what happens when I am overwhelmed? I shut down.
I have been reading The Runners Handbook by Bob Glover and I really like his training routine. He breaks the routine down into weekly tactics that will have you running 20 minutes in a period of 10 weeks. I know what you are thinking... What?!??! 10 weeks and you are only running for 20 minutes!?!?! But its better to start gradually and avoid injuries and overdoing things. I have also started doing some pilates, yoga, and some other target exercises to compliment the running. Its been roughly one week and I am looking forward to seeing how my body reacts to all of this new movement.
Yay for me! I feel good!

Happy New Year!!!

I know, I know..... We are already 5 days into the new year but the time has just slipped by me this year. Usually by Christmas of every year I have a notion about what my resolutions are going to be for the next year and the plan I am going to use to implement them and this year I was just enjoying being in the moment. I thought long and hard this year on things that I would like to change this year. I have done a lot of soul searching and have finally (5 days into the new year) come up with my list. So folks, here it is.

  • Be more involved with my kids. Luke especially since he has gotten the short end of the stick since Ev has arrived. We got Uno cards for Christmas and have been playing ever since.

  • Divorce my couch. Get up and move.

  • Distance myself from fakers and people that don't treat me respectfully. I am so sick of the drama that some of these people have that I cant stand it anymore. These people are just not worth my time, energy, or love.

  • Organization.

  • And finally, my health. This is not going to be like last year or the year before or the year before that (just keep going). I am not focusing on weight anymore. I am focusing on eating healthier and exercising more. I am at a point in my life where I need to think about my future and making sure that I am healthy and active for my kids.

So there is my list. I would love to talk more but I hear a treadmill calling my name.

What are your resolutions?

Can we get anymore snow?!

Do the snow gods not know that I still have shopping to do?

A few pictures.

Brrr... Its cold!

I really need to finish my Christmas shopping but it is -20 degrees outside. If I were going alone I don't think it would be such a big deal..... But with Ev, no way. I guess it will just have to wait. Luke is in Indiana with his dad until Tuesday and I sure do miss him. There isn't much going on here lately. Dale and I are hosting our first annual Christmas Eve! We are making something easy (maybe mostacolli) and instead of an adult gift exchange we are regifting and playing the white elephant game. You had to find something that you already own but not using, wrap it up, and exchange! So Fun! I cant wait.
Want to hear a secret? Shhh... My white elephant gift is a bottle of scotch. It was in my liquor cabinet and I don't use it so its perfect.
On the pub front.... So I don't think that I have updated on this subject at all. Dale and I owned O'Sullivans Irish Pub. We closed in July due to back tax issues from the previous owner. We received a loan and we are currently building out our new restaurant! Finnegan's Irish Pub. I am very excited. Dale has been working 7 days a week, 18 hours a day. It should be open by the end of January and I will keep you all updated on that.
Stay warm out there!

Snow Days Make Me Smile.

There is nothing like waking up at 5am to an automated message from the school telling you that they have canceled it. Most parents I know cringe at that message. It becomes an incovience to have them disrupt their important daily activities. I, however, LOVE these messages. Sure, there are trying times during the day but as I type this Luke and Evan are playing together on the floor. It just warms my heart to see them play so well together. Luke is an amazing big brother (aka: mother hen) and Ev worships the ground he walks on. Life is good.
