Breathe in..... Breathe out....

I have to say that I am somewhat pleased with how my goals for this year are going. The family time has been really good this week. We have started eating dinner a little earlier and then making our way to the living room for some quality time. Now, I know most of you will say that tv time is not quality time but I beg to differ. For one, it is f-ing cold outside and if I leave the house once a week that is more than enough for me. Two, we have not been sitting on the couch..... nope, we have been spending time on the floor.... all of us. A lot of this time has included talking, wrestling, and lots of laughing (thank you America's Funniest Home Videos). We pick something to watch that does not require our full effort to watch and we just play. Its awesome! Lucas especially loves this and it has become his favorite time of the day. Besides, once this winter weather breaks we will be out and about more than enough. (I really cant wait for Spring)
On the health front I have been making effort on exercise. I am trying to remain consistent and not overdo things. I am also trying to make healthier meal choices but not focusing on weight loss until my exercise regimen becomes routine. Doing to much it so overwhelming.... and do you know what happens when I am overwhelmed? I shut down.
I have been reading The Runners Handbook by Bob Glover and I really like his training routine. He breaks the routine down into weekly tactics that will have you running 20 minutes in a period of 10 weeks. I know what you are thinking... What?!??! 10 weeks and you are only running for 20 minutes!?!?! But its better to start gradually and avoid injuries and overdoing things. I have also started doing some pilates, yoga, and some other target exercises to compliment the running. Its been roughly one week and I am looking forward to seeing how my body reacts to all of this new movement.
Yay for me! I feel good!

TV time is some of the best quality time together! You're so right: itisn't just watching tv. Some of the best family interaction goes on while watching the tube!
